Kolkata, March 14 (IANS) Taunting West Bengal legislator Arjun Singh who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Trinamool Congress MP Dinesh Trivedi on Thursday said people will decide "who is opportunist".

"I wish him all the best. People have their faith in Mamata Banerjee and they want her to play a bigger national role," he said.

West Bengal's ruling Trinaool Congress strongman and Bhatpara MLA Arjun Singh on Thursday afternoon joined the saffron party in New Delhi in the presence of senior BJP party leaders.

The legislator was miffed with the Trinamool leadership as he was denied a Lok Sabha ticket from Barrackpore parliamentary constituency, presently represented by Trivedi.

Singh is likely to be fielded from Barrackpore parliamentary constituency as the BJP candidate.

Asked about this, Trivedi said: "In democracy, they can give him ticket. But people will decide who is opportunist and who is not."
